Каждая капсула содержит:
Аскорбиновая кислота 500 мг.
Вспомогательные компоненты:
Биовакс, микрокристаллическая целлюлоза, кислота стеарат.
Свойства:
Витамин С. Аскорбиновая кислота необходима для образования внутриклеточного коллагена, требуется для укрепления структуры зубов, костей и стенок капилляров. Участвует в окислительно-восстановительных реакциях, метаболизме тирозина, превращении фолиевой кислоты в фолиниевую, метаболизме углеводов, синтезе липидов и белков, метаболизме железа, процессах клеточного дыхания, активизирует синтез стероидных гормонов. Снижает потребность в витаминах B1, B2, A, E, фолиевой кислоте, пантотеновой кислоте, способствует повышению устойчивости организма к инфекциям; улучшает абсорбцию железа, способствуя его депонированию в редуцированной форме. Обладает антиоксидантными свойствами.
Показания:
Для системного применения: профилактика и лечение гипо- и авитаминоза витамина С; обеспечение повышенной потребности организма в витамине С в период роста, при беременности, лактации, при тяжелых нагрузках, переутомлении, в период реконвалесценции после длительных тяжелых заболеваний; в зимний период, при повышенном риске развития инфекционных заболеваний.
Способ применения и дозы:
Взрослые и дети старше 12 лет:
Рекомендуемая доза по 1-2 капсуле 1 раза в сутки.
Противопоказания:
Повышенная чувствительность к аскорбиновой кислоте.
Меры предосторожности:
С осторожностью применять у пациентов с гипероксалурией, нарушениями функции почек, указаниями в анамнезе на мочекаменную болезнь.
Поскольку аскорбиновая кислота повышает абсорбцию железа, ее применение в высоких дозах может быть опасно у пациентов с гемохроматозом, талассемией, полицитемией, лейкемией и сидеробластной анемией.
У пациентов с высоким содержанием железа в организме следует применять аскорбиновую кислоту в минимальных дозах.
С осторожностью применять у пациентов с дефицитом глюкозо-6-фосфатдегидрогеназы.
Применение аскорбиновой кислоты в высоких дозах может вызвать обострение серповидно-клеточной анемии.
Побочные эффекты:
Со стороны ЦНС: головная боль, чувство усталости, бессонница.
Со стороны пищеварительной системы: спазмы желудка, тошнота и рвота.
Аллергические реакции: описаны единичные случаи кожных реакций и проявлений со стороны дыхательной системы.
Со стороны мочевыделительной системы: при применении в высоких дозах — гипероксалурия и формирование почечных камней из оксалата кальция.
Способ хранения:
При температуре не выше 30 С. В сухом месте.

C Retard should be given with care to patients with underlying renal failure due to the risk of formation of renal oxalate calculi. Tolerance may be induced in patients taking high doses.

Large doses may cause gastrointestinal disorders including diarrhoea. Large doses may also result in hyperoxaluria and renal oxalate calculi may form if the urine becomes acidic. Doses of 600mg or more daily have a diuretic action. Induced tolerance with prolonged use of large doses can result in symptoms of deficiency when intake is reduced to normal.

C Retard, a water-soluble vitamin, is essential for formation of collagen and intercellular material, and therefore necessary for the development of cartilage, bone, teeth and for the healing of wounds. It is also essential for the conversion from folic acid to folinic acid, facilitates iron absorption from the gastro-intestinal tract and influences haemoglobin formation and erythrocyte maturation.

Distribution — widely distributed in body tissues with about 25% bound to plasma proteins. Large amounts are present in leucocytes and platelets. C Retard crosses the placenta.
Metabolism — readily oxidised to dehydroC Retard where some is metabolised to oxalic acid and the inactive ascorbate — 2 — sulphate. Metabolic turnover appears to be greater in females than males.
Excretion — large doses are rapidly excreted in the urine when in excess of the requirements of the body and after an intravenous dose, about 40% is excreted in 8 hours, which is increased to about 70% after tissue saturation. The amount of unchanged drug is dose dependent; in women the excretion of C Retard appears to vary with the stage of the menstrual cycle and it is decreased when taking oral contraceptives.
C Retard is excreted in breast milk.
Oxalic acid and ascorbate — 2 — sulphate are excreted in the urine.

Incompatible with ferric salts, oxidising agents, and salts of heavy metals, particularly copper.
Injections of C Retard have been reported to be incompatible with aminophylline, bleomycin sulphate, erythromycin lactobionate, nafcillin sodium, nitrofurantoin sodium, conjugated oestrogens, sodium bicarbonate and sulphafurazole diethanolamine. Occasional incompatibility, depending on pH or concentration, has occurred with chloramphenicol sodium succinate.
