What-it-does:

Good old water, aka H2O. The most common skincare ingredient of all. You can usually find it right in the very first spot of the ingredient list, meaning it’s the biggest thing out of all the stuff that makes up the product.
It’s mainly a solvent for ingredients that do not like to dissolve in oils but rather in water.
Once inside the skin, it hydrates, but not from the outside — putting pure water on the skin (hello long baths!) is drying.
One more thing: the water used in cosmetics is purified and deionized (it means that almost all of the mineral ions inside it is removed). Like this, the products can stay more stable over time.
A light emollient ester (C8-10 fatty acids connected to C12-18 fatty alcohols) that absorbs quickly and leaves a dry but silky finish on the skin. In terms of skin feel, it is similar to Dicaprylyl Carbonate, another commonly used light emollient.

It’s also great at dissolving UV-filters in sunscreens or dispersing pigments in makeup products. You can also bump into Isoamyl Laurate in hair care products as a hair conditioner that makes combing easier without build up.
A mild, corn-sugar derived, oil-loving emulsifier that helps oil and water to mix nicely together. It is safe for sensitive skin or eye-care formulations and gives a light, satiny after-feel. It is often used together with its water-loving buddy Peg-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate.

It’s a little helper ingredient coming from corn, rice or potato starch that can help to keep skin mat (absorbent), to stabilise emulsions, and to keep the product together (binding).

A white powdery thing that’s the major component of glass and sand. In cosmetics, it’s often in products that are supposed to keep your skin matte as it has great oil-absorbing abilities. It’s also used as a helper ingredient to thicken up products or suspend insoluble particles.
A soft, white powder that can be used as a talc replacement in body powders or in pressed powders. It also has some oil absorbing properties and gives increased cushion and richness to emulsion-type formulas.
A white to beige powder that is described as the golden standard emulsifier for emulsions (oil+water mixtures) that are difficult to stabilize. It is especially popular in sunscreens as it can boost SPF protection and increase the water-resistance of the formula.
It’s one of the most commonly used thickeners and emulsion stabilizers. If the product is too runny, a little xanthan gum will make it more gel-like. Used alone, it can make the formula sticky and it is a good team player so it is usually combined with other thickeners and so-called rheology modifiers (helper ingredients that adjust the flow and thus the feel of the formula). The typical use level of Xantha Gum is below 1%, it is usually in the 0.1-0.5% range.
Btw, Xanthan gum is all natural, a chain of sugar molecules (polysaccharide) produced from individual sugar molecules (glucose and sucrose) via fermentation. It’s approved by Ecocert and also used in the food industry (E415).
It’s a handy multi-tasking ingredient that gives the skin a nice, soft feel. At the same time, it also boosts the effectiveness of other preservatives, such as the nowadays super commonly used phenoxyethanol.
The blend of these two (caprylyl glycol + phenoxyethanol) is called Optiphen, which not only helps to keep your cosmetics free from nasty things for a long time but also gives a good feel to the finished product. It’s a popular duo.

So citric acid is an exfoliant, that can — just like other AHAs — gently lift off the dead skin cells of your skin and make it more smooth and fresh.
There is also some research showing that citric acid with regular use (think three months and 20% concentration) can help sun-damaged skin, increase skin thickness and some nice hydrating things called glycosaminoglycans in the skin.
But according to a comparative study done in 1995, citric acid has less skin improving magic properties than glycolic or lactic acid. Probably that’s why citric acid is usually not used as an exfoliant but more as a helper ingredient in small amounts to adjust the pH of a formulation.
A really multi-functional helper ingredient that can do several things in a skincare product: it can bring a soft and pleasant feel to the formula, it can act as a humectant and emollient, it can be a solvent for some other ingredients (for example it can help to stabilize perfumes in watery products) and it can also help to disperse pigments more evenly in makeup products. And that is still not all: it can also boost the antimicrobial activity of preservatives.

Chamomile probably needs no introduction as it’s one of the most widely used medicinal herbs. You probably drink it regularly as a nice, calming cup of tea and it’s also a regular on skincare ingredient lists.
Cosmetic companies use it mainly for its anti-inflammatory properties. It contains the terpenoids chamazulene and bisabolol both of which show great anti-inflammatory action in animal studies. On top of that chamomile also has some antioxidant activity (thanks to some other active ingredients called matricine, apigenin and luteolin).
Though chamomile is usually a goodie for the skin, it’s also not uncommon to have an allergic reaction to it.

The extract coming from the lovely herb, rosemary. It contains lots of chemicals, including flavonoids, phenolic acids, and diterpenes. Its main active is rosmarinic acid, a potent antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory. It has also anti-bacterial, astringent and toning properties.
The leaves contain a small amount of essential oil (1-2%) with fragrant components, so if you are allergic to fragrance, it might be better to avoid it.

Yves Rocher Sensitive Camomille The Cleansing Oil — вполне рабочая штука для очищения лица
Приветствую всех! Если честно, поначалу у меня присутствовала некая боязнь пробовать гидрофильные масла из-за того, что они могут забить поры и вызвать воспаления. Опять же, было это в силу незнания и, как оказалось, моей комбинированной коже данный тип продукта для очищения лица подошёл на все сто, а то и больше.
Итак, сегодня мне бы хотелось рассказать о своей последней находке для очищения лица — масло для чувствительной кожи с концентратом ромашки БИО от Yves Rocher.
Упаковка
Пожалуй, здесь вернёмся к нашим баранам маслу. Бутылочка пластиковая, самая обычная, дозатор неплохой — не заедает и не плюётся. Мне приходится совершать примерно 3-4 нажатия, чтобы получить достаточное количество для очищения всей поверхности лица, что уже многое говорит о расходе средства.

Что касается состава, то на мой взгляд, он вполне рабочий. Ничего лишнего, хоть я и не скажу, что слишком сильна в этом.
Свойства продукта
Пожалуй, в первую очередь отмечу отдушку, точнее, её отсутствие. На самом деле, это неплохо, что нет лишней химии, но для меня естественный запах масла не очень приятен — отдаёт чем-то прогорклым. В силу текстуры расход нельзя назвать экономичным. Я приобрела продукт в конце февраля, и за это время израсходовалось примерно больше половины. Крашусь я не каждый день. Масло предпочитаю использовать не так, как советует производитель, а классическим способом, нанося нужное мне количество на ватный диск и снимая им макияж.
К слову, то, чего я так боялась (забитых пор, появления воспалительных элементов) не появилось от слова совсем и даже наоборот — состояние кожи улучшилось, благодаря тому, что лицо лучше очищается маслом, нежели простой мицеллярной водой. Разумеется, потом я в обязательном порядке использую пенку или гель. При попадании в глаза может быть некоторое время дискомфорт, но ощущение присутствия плёнки быстро проходит. На лице же такого чувства после умывания нет, как и стянутости с сухостью на пару. Лучше всего смывать масло гелем, а не пенкой, особенно те, которые корейского типа — требующие взбивания сеточкой.
Демонстрация в действии
Я решила не мелочиться скупым описанием фактов в моём представлении об очищающем масле с ромашкой и продемонстрировать его действие наглядно, используя наиболее стойкую косметику из моей коллекции. В качестве тест-драйва были нанесены слева направо:
- Жидкая помада YSL Tatouage Couture.
- Подводка Divage Precision Brush Tip Liner.
- Консилер Clarins Instant Concealer.
- Тональный крем Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-place.
- Тушь для ресниц Yves Rocher Sexy Pulp.
Сделала буквально одно движение ватным диском, смоченным в масле, без сильного нажатия. Как можно заметить, большая часть продуктов смылась не то, чтобы без следа, но наполовину уж точно.
Ну и конечная демонстрация результата уже после хорошего такого очищения. От косметики не осталось даже и следа. Поэтому используя это масло, можно быть уверенным, что эффект панды не поприветствует на утро после умывания (конечно, при условии, что макияж снимался вечером 😄 ).
Итог
Считаю масло с концентратом ромашки для чувствительной кожи вполне себе неплохим бойцом с водостойкой (да и не только косметикой). Оно отлично справляется со всеми заявленными обещаниями
