The Coleman Power Steel Swim Vista Series II Pool is probably one of the best investments we’ve ever done. The pool has been good to us with really no problems and large enough for our whole family. It’s the perfect summer pool without having to leave the house. 

We first started with a Bestway Power Steel Frame Pool several years ago and then recently upgraded a few years ago to the Coleman Swim Vista pool. I get so many questions about it since we’ve installed it and going to answer those for you as well as the set up process. Also, be sure to check out the video below of a quick installation of the pool to give you a general idea.

Should I Upgrade the Pool Pump? 

Yes, I would upgrade the pool pump if you want the pool to run successfully. The pool pump that currently comes with it is not large enough to handle how big the pool is. It might be okay for a month or two but we had a hard time having it keep the pool cleaned and such. We upgraded the pool pump to an Intex sand filter pump. It has worked great for us and all you really need to do is flush it out and clean the filter every once in a while. 

Do I Need to Take the Pool Down after the Summer Season?

That would depend on you and the climate you live in. The first year we had the pool, we took it down for the winter season but found it to be very tedious to put up and take down. This year we decided to keep it up all year long and it survived. We live in Ohio with all 4 seasons and it did not affect the pool at all.

To keep it up all year long, we drained the pool at the end of the summer season. Once the pool was drained we put the ladder inside the pool, covered it with a tarp and held it down with rope to help keep leaves and such out. At first that worked but then once the snowfall came in the tarp began to rip and we had to take it off. We ended up leaving it off the rest of the winter and it was fine. Just be sure to clean out the pool before refilling.

What you Need:

• Shovel
• Level
• Wheelbarrow
• Tape Measure
• Rake
• Tiller (optional)

Map out where you want the pool to be. Measure the area to make sure you have enough room and avoid slopes, electric wires and trees nearby. 

Using the tools listed above, level the ground where the pool is going to be. Some areas may have to be dug deeper or more soil may need to be added depending on how uneven the ground is.

Remove any debris from the area such as rocks, sticks or anything sharp that could possibly damage the pool underneath.

Place the level around the tilled area to make sure it is all level before installing pool. Lay out the pool in the leveled area making sure the drain valve is where the pump is going to be.

Secure the top rail all across the top of the pool. Insert the top rail into the pole pockets at the top of the pool and connect top rail with T-Connector at each of corner as you’re setting the pole into the ground (may take 2 people to do).

Insert pins to secure top rail to T-connectors. Make sure the pins have gasket cups at the top of pin. The gasket cups should face downwards to prevent water leaking into the top rails.

Put all vertical pool legs inside the bottom of the pool wall band and attach the footings. Make sure all the poles are straight and secured around the pool.

Secure the drain cap and making sure it is firmly closed.

When filling the pool assure that the bottom has minimal to no wrinkles. You can smooth out with your hands and feet as it fills up.

Build the pool ladder by following the instructions that came in the box. As the pool fills up with water, put the pool ladder inside the pool and continue to smooth out the wrinkles until the pool is about 1/4 of the way filled.

Once the pool is filled connect the pool pump and plug in. Add chlorine and be sure to test the water for PH levels each time you add chlorine.
